Where to Stay

Our ceremony will be held in the Walled City of Derry, Northern Ireland. There are plenty of hotels and airbnbs all within walking distance of fantastic restaurants, pubs, and historic sights. Listed below are some of our favourites, all of which will NOT require you to hire a car.

Our reception will be held at Harvey’s Point, Donegal, Republic of Ireland. It is 70 minutes travel by car from Derry. PLEASE NOTE – if you are staying in Derry city for the duration of your stay, a coach will be provided to ferry guests from the ceremony to reception and back again towards the end of the night. For the early birds amongst you, this coach will not be leaving until the wee hours! If you intend to make use of the coach please let us know on the RSVP form, otherwise you may not be guaranteed a seat.

Alternatively, you may wish to stay with us at Harvey’s Point or in the nearby Donegal Town on the night of the wedding; in this case you will have to find your own transport back to Derry for our after-party the following evening (01.08.24). Car hire is available from all airports and within the City of Derry.

FAQs

  1. Can I use my phone or camera during the ceremony?
We must insist that no personal pictures or video are taken as we walk up and down the aisle. Our photographer and videographer are professionals, and they do not want their work to be disturbed.  We will share their hard work with you all after the event. We kindly request no photos on social media until we post our first picture as Mr & Mrs.
  2. Are children invited?
No. While we love your little ones, our wedding is going to be an adults only event so that everyone can relax and enjoy the evening. We appreciate you making arrangements ahead of time and leaving the kids at home, so that you can celebrate with us.
  3. Is there a dress code?
Yes. The dress code for our wedding is formal/cocktail attire. Ladies should wear cocktail/formal dresses and gentlemen should wear a suit and tie. Clothing items in shades of cream, white or ivory are reserved for the Bride.
  4. How do I RSVP?
Please use the contact form on this website, found in the previous section. If you require assistance to complete, please email us at www.laurenandcallum2024@gmail.com. We ask that every guest, even immediate family, RSVP to ensure allergens are catered for.
  5. Where are the ceremony and reception taking place?
The ceremony is at St Eugene’s Cathedral, and the reception is at Harvey’s Point. Details can be found in the Events section at the top of the page.
  6. Will the ceremony and reception be indoors or outdoors?
Both events will be indoors, though there are beautiful lakeside outdoor areas to explore at Harvey’s Point, weather permitting.
  7. Am I invited to the ceremony, or just the reception?
If you have received an invite, you are invited to both the ceremony and the reception. We can’t wait to see you!
  8. What time should I arrive for the ceremony?
The ceremony starts at 13:00, however we ask that all guests are seated at 12:45 for the arrival of the Bride.
  9. Is there parking at the ceremony?
There is extremely limited parking at St Eugene’s Cathedral, and little space and avaliability in the surrounding streets. If driving, please arrive early to guarantee a spot. We would recommend taxis for those concerned about space.
  10. What happens after the ceremony?
The ceremony is likely to end around 14:00. Guests are invited to mingle and celebrate outside the church. Guests using the provided coach transportation should then make their way to the bus. All guests are invited to our cocktail hour at Harvey’s Point at 15:30, where drinks and light bites will be served, before the reception properly begins.
  11. What time does the reception end?
Officially, the reception ends at 2AM – we like to party. However, the coach back to Derry will depart around 1:30AM, and we don’t mind if you have to leave before that. If you’d like to carry on the party until breakfast, guests of Harvey’s Point may make use of the residents bar (subject to how drunk you are!)
  12. Is there parking at the reception?
Yes, there is plenty of parking for all of our guests.
  13. Will food and drink be provided at the reception?
Our cocktail hour will include beers and prosecco, as well as light bites such as sandwiches and cookies. Our wedding meal consists of four courses. A buffet of hot food will also be included later in the evening. You won’t be hungry! For those with dietary requirements, it is essential you let us know on the RSVP form so that we can cater to your needs.
  14. Do you have a hotel block for guests/where should I stay?
If you wish to stay with us at Harvey’s Point for the night, please get in touch with us, as we have a select number of discounted rooms reserved. Other hotels in the surrounding area can be found in the ‘Our Favourite Places’ section of the website. Those guests who are staying in Derry can use the provided coach service that will take them from the ceremony to the reception, and take them back again later that night (most likely early morning!)
  15. Can I bring additional guests?
Our wedding is strictly RSVP only. Only those listed on the invite will be accomodated for.
  16. Will there be other events to attend the week of the wedding?
All guests are invited (but not required) to attend our pre-wedding party on Friday 26th of July, and our after-party on Thursday 1st of August. Details of these parties can be found in the ‘Events’ section above.
  17. What will the weather be like in Derry at this time of year?
You tell us! We would love to say it would be sunny and warm, but it’s just as changeable as in England. Pack for poor and sunny weather.
  18. Do you have a gift/honeymoon registry?
Your presence at our wedding is the greatest gift of all. We appreciate it is a great distance to travel for many. However, should you wish to honour us with a gift, a contribution to our honeymoon would help create memories that will last a lifetime.
  19. I still have a question, how should I contact you?
Please don’t hesitate to email us at laurenandcallum2024@gmail.com.
